Ordinary Rebels

Throughout history and today, the people who shape the world are not always the ones in power.  They are ordinary citizens who see a problem and choose to act.

Introduction

Throughout history and today, the people who shape the world are not always the ones in power.  They are ordinary citizens who see a problem and choose to act. In this expedition, we will explore how creativity, courage, and community turn everyday people into agents of change. We will journey through the real story of William Kamkwamba, who saved his village through invention, and dive into fictional stories of characters fighting injustice and changing their worlds. You will examine how movements are built, how writing and art can spark action, and how real-world challenges today still need bold citizen creators. Design a campaign to drive impact in an area you care about, design a new invention to support a cause that's important in any part of the world, or write a powerful speech, story or narrative that centers around an everyday person making change in their lives. This expedition will have reading requirements.
