Writing at Sora

By Sora Schools

What if your teacher told you to follow your curiosities and use writing as a way to explore them? What if you could use writing to convince a local legislator to change laws or teach your social media followers about an injustice? What if you could publish a book of poems, a scientific journal, or a newspaper article that would be read by a hundred people?

At Sora, students write to investigate and solve problems, connect with people, ideas, and history, and make their voices heard. We believe writing is an act of critical thinking that refines our students’ ability to reason and reflect.

Writing sharpens students’ thinking across disciplines. Sora students learn how to describe and support their conclusions about Ohm’s law in STEM expeditions and explain how to compare graphs in Algebra. In humanities expeditions, students may write to reflect on research on ancient China, produce advertising proposals for local businesses, or create new fictional worlds.
